Apples help maintain levels of acetylcholine, a brain chemical vital for memory and cognitive health. They help with reducing preventing and slowing the progression of Alzheimer's.

Pineapples contain the enzyme bromelain, which aids in digestion, eases cold/flu symptoms and acts as an anti-inflammatory. They help with reducing arthritis joint pain and swelling.

Lemongrass has long been widely used in Asian countries for its medicinal properties. It is used for easing discomfort of stomach pain, synthesizing hemoglobin (the protein in red cells responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body), lemongrass is helpful for various types of anemia, especially those resulting from iron deficiency. It has anti-septic compounds that effectively kill the harmful micro-organisms (bacteria, yeast, fungal, parasites, etc.) in the digestive tract while still preserving the beneficial bacteria.

Basil is rich in chromium, which is key in carbohydrate and fat metabolism, and helps reduce sugar cravings. It plays a lead role in controlling blood-sugar levels and is the active component in the body’s glucose tolerance factor (GTF), activating insulin’s main job in the body- to bring glucose to cells to be used up for energy- and also increasing insulin’s uptake, helping to stabilize and lower blood-sugar levels. This is especially key in prevention of type-2 diabetes. Plus, it curbs weight gain and visceral fat (the harmful fat that hugs your organs). A published study on supplementing with chromium revealed individuals who suffered from event-driven mood swings, experienced a decrease in appetite and overeating, reduced carbohydrate cravings, and fewer mood swings.
